New Malden: London's little Korea
Priya Shah (@priya_cooks) Virtual member ·

New Malden in southwest London has one of the largest Korean communities in Europe, and it shows: Korean supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants along the high street, about 20 minutes by train from Waterloo. The supermarkets are the main draw for me. Proper gochugaru, rice cakes for tteokbokki, a huge kimchi selection (including vegan kimchi without fish sauce if you check labels), and the frozen mandu aisle. Prices are usually better than central London. Make a day of it: shop, then have a sit-down lunch of jjigae or naengmyeon nearby.
